In the complicated and often confusing world of pool cleaners, it’s nice to see some simple and effective pool robots for above-ground pools that not only work reliably – but are affordable to boot! We are of course talking about the Pool Rover T Junior. To learn much more about this workhorse little cleaning robot and what others are saying about its performance and value, please keep on reading.
Pool Rover T Junior Specifications
The Pool Rover T Junior may look like a kid’s toy, but we can assure you it’s all business. This robot can scour up to 5,400 square feet of above-ground pool per hour and filter approximately 4,800 gallons per hour at the same time. The Rover T Junior is built to clean the floor of a pool only – it will not climb the sides of your pool. In addition, it is designed only for flat-surfaces, so if you pool bottom is concave or convex, this is not your robot.
This robot works simply by dropping it into your pool and attaching the 40-foot power cord to a standard 120V outlet. It uses its off-road type wheels to run sweeps across your pool while navigating over small bumps, drains or other small obstacles. Water is pulled into the unit by a powerful motor and then filtered through a reusable 19-quart bag that captures various types of typical pool bottom debris. The bag material is also fine enough to stop particles down to about 2 microns, allowing it to clear murky water situations resulting from suspended fine sediments and algae.
In addition to the power cord and transformer (included), there is nothing else needed to run this bot – no ugly and complicated skimmer hoses or extra pumps or accessories. As a result, this is a very easy plug-n-play robot that requires no assistance beyond keeping the filter bag clean, especially when first going to work on a very dirty pool.
The Rover T Junior is recommended for above-ground pools up to 27-feet round.
Pool Rover T Junior Reviews
With a current user satisfaction rating of 4.5 out of 5.0 stars on amazon.com based 6 reviews, people truly love their Rover T Junior. Virtually all of these reviews glowed about how well this model picks up debris, including larger items like leaves and also fine sediments like pollen and algae. They also noted how easy it is to change out and clean the filter bag. As one very happy user put it “Why, oh why, did I wait so long to buy this?!“
There was only one truly negative review – from a user who experienced apparent product failures. However, this was the only instance of any defect we could find. In addition, one review noted that this robot’s cord is susceptible to twisting, as there is no swivel mechanism included.
Concluding Thoughts & Opinions
If you’ve done any research on pool robots, you already know they are very pricey and many models simply don’t live up to the hype. However, coming in at a very modest price of around $300, the Pool Rover T Junior delivers as advertised – it thoroughly cleans your pool bottom and does so with minimal fuss. What else can you really ask for?
As far as we’re concerned, if you want to clean your above-ground pool and without sinking a large fortune into some complicated and needlessly-elaborate suction/pressure system, we think the Rover T Juniors offers outstanding performance and a refreshing measure of simplicity. In fact, once you’ve used it – we think you too will question yourself why you waited so long to buy one!
