The FAD704DWD comes with a good set of features that are far from earth-shattering, but shouldn’t disappoint.
It uses a front-loading bucket for easy-access with a transparent water line level; its control panel displays relative humidity and uses simple but fairly precise electronic controls; and it has two fan speeds.
This model is also equipped with an anti-bacterial, washable air filter and comes with a continuous draining option that connects via a standard garden hose. The FAD704DWD is also energy efficient, as evidenced by its Energy Star rating.
Finally, like most 70-pint dehumidifiers, this one is fitted with rolling casters.
Frigidaire FAD704DWD Reviews
The FAD704DWD has earned an average rating of 4.1 out 5 stars on amazon.com based on a total of 53 customer reviews.
This is a great satisfaction for any dehumidifier in our experience. This is especially so since, perhaps more than any other appliance , dehumidifiers evoke some of the harshest critiques we’ve seen. In all fairness, however, dehumidifiers do tend to break down more than most other home air quality appliances, so this is often well-deserved.
Let’s take a look at exactly what some of these reviewers said. Here are some pretty ordinary comments made about the FAD704DWD:
- “Quick, Quiet and Efficient”
- “I bought this unit after reading several reviews and I’m glad I made this purchase. This thing works great and the reviews were spot on.”
- “it works very well pulling the moisture out of the area….Runs very quietly.”
Compare these reviews with a couple examples of more negative comments:
- “is very quiet, and is drying up the basement, but it leaks onto the floor unless the drain hose is connected.”
- “First unit leaked water from the back panel right away.”
This pretty much sums up the reviews – most people praised this model for bringing down humidity quickly and very quietly; whereas their were a handful of reviewers that complained of some product defects, primarily leaking of the unit. Nevertheless, in most of these cases it appears that customer support was offered and/or the unit was replaced.
Price & Value
At it’s current MSRP of roughly $250, the FAD7o4DWD is priced very reasonably, particularly when you consider that this model delivers 70-pint/day power and features a fairly complete set of design features. Another thing to keep in mind is Frigidaire’s better-than-average customer service response, which is obvious when you compare reviews between this model and many others we’ve seen lately.

Concluding Thoughts & Opinions
It’s really hard to find much to gripe about here. The Frigidaire FAD704DWD does what it’s supposed to, very well – namely, dehumidify large areas quickly, efficiently and very quietly. Indeed, the many reviewers who noted how quietly this model ran was a bit of a pleasant surprise – noise is easily one of the biggest complaints of virtually all dehumidifiers, especially higher-capacity 70-pint models.
To be sure, there were several reviewers who experienced problems, such as leaking and apparent product defects or malfunctioning due to shipping damage. But this is always a problem to some degree with the best of them, and Frigidaire’s customer service did appear to address these issues in the majority of those cases we noted.
As a result, we join with the majority of the 5-star reviewers who would recommend this model to anyone looking for a large, quiet and efficient dehumidifier.
